Anxious times.

  1. I will never discuss feminism’s cissexism and racism with my friend ever again because all she says is “that’s not true.” and “only a few are like that.”

    She also says I’m a feminist despite me not calling myself one. I am feminist in her eyes apparently… wtf?

    It’s like all the shit that I’ve learned and experienced isn’t valid around here when it comes to that.

    It makes me want to scream and bash my head into a wall.

    She also says a lot of slut shaming, classist and other problematic things. 

    I don’t know what to do.

    The creator recently admitted that he is faking his depression for money. He also goes on to accuse the entire disorder of being a “socially enforced” construct that doesn’t medically exist. (Pointedly he only brings this up after he gained nearly $44,000 more than he needed in order to get his project off the ground.)

    Essentially, he has been stealing from people who have depression by pretending to identify with them. In reality he does not believe their disorder exists and merely considers them his “chosen demographic.”

    This man is a scumbag and he does not deserve so much as a cent more than what he’s already scammed from others.

    Why would you PRETEND to be depressed? Obviously, he’s a shit bag. Depression is VERY real, coming from someone who has been a lifelong sufferer, and without medication rarely does more than lie in bed miserable because I have no energy for anything else.

    FUCK ANYONE WHO THINKS FAKING IT IS COOL OR THAT DEPRESSION SUFFERERS ARE FAKING IT. THEY WOULDN’T MAKE MEDICATION FOR A MADE-UP DISEASE WITH CLINICAL TRIALS, YOU SHITLORDS

    When they go on and on about how I’m a woman because I have a uterus but a trans woman isn’t because she doesn’t, they’re saying loud and clear ‘all that matters about being a woman is your sex organs and your ability to be pregnant’.     The kinds of images displayed in the link above are precisely the kinds of images that should not be tagged #Native American. (it takes a while to load because there are SO MANY PICTURES)  At best, these kinds of images are related to real Native Americans only as a visual reminder of cultural appropriation and the colonial mindset, which actively denigrates our cultures and ignores what we have to say about our cultural symbols.  AT BEST.

    If you were, like tens of thousands of other settlers, unaware of why these images are problematic, then please read the following:  An Open Letter to Non-Natives in Headdresses.  Most questions you might have about the issue will be answered there, clearly and simply.

    By doing a little bit of reading, you can avoid the embarrassment of being publicly called out for something you may have believed purely innocent.  You can avoid the rush of shame that such public attention will bring, and you can avoid having it turn to self-righteous anger as you choose to feel victimised rather than responsible.  You can avoid getting into a long protracted and ill-conceived battle of words in your rush to defend your honour, and instead, you can consider these points calmly and rationally.

    All of which would be a definite improvement, and would be much appreciated.
